After festoons and parades
A Prince Finds
A Dawg’s soul among the carnal wreckage
Of ethics & culture
A breeze of
Fields and vacuums
Reverb and brilliance
Active and passive bass walks
Who’s foreclosure was more Guantanamo than Fanny Mac
Thus the purposeful bliss
But this wasn’t a political thought
Just perhaps a National
Reso-phonics
As unproductive as a church or an afternoon sports bar
Not useless
Just Continuous Static Absorption.
If funds and feelings last the summer
The jet streams and cotton puffs
Like a drug soaked rag
An erected roof, a thunderstorm
A wishful purging of steam and paraphernalia
Of mossy gutters
The rooster crest on thy plate, curled rubbery pride
gone brown and cold
in a black and white quartet above
there’s Whitman, Joyce, Creeley, Lenny
among buckets of money by Dubreuil
Menhir du Champ Dolent and Ceci n’est pas une pipe
I possess nothing, I see
nothing but years of thumbtacks and tape.
Roofing and digging
The dire bowing of loads
The hissing of summer lawns (as much Agee as Joni)
Without the rattle of water
Just cicada breath
What’s so great in this crooked imperfect present
But lone cold beer
All the more for me and John Fahey.
